Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy + Smooth Review

I am back with another review for my battle of the drugstore foundations! This will be hopefully lucky #3? From my previous review, I am in love with Maybelline's Fit Me Matte + Poreless. I was excited to also try this one - Maybelline's Fit Me! Dewy + Smooth.
I have normal to oily skin depending on the weather. During the summer my face tends to be more on the oily side, but not really unmanageable. Even for those oily gals, we don't want to always be matte. We want to have some luminous glow as well. I tested this out for 1 day (since it only takes that long for me to form an opinion on whether or not I will like it).
For application I used my flat top kabuki brush and it went on just like an drugstore liquid foundation. I was happy to see that it was very much like the Matte + Poreless as far as coverage is concerned - it's full without feeling cakey. I do hate that it doesn't have a pump. Get with the program Maybelline! I feel like I waste a lot of product by dumping it onto the back of my hand. I also accidentally got too much my first tap so I attempted to swipe it back into the bottle and made a mess.
How did it look after initial application? It covered my freckles and blemishes amazingly. If you've read my previous review post you know I hate when foundation sinks into my pores and that pores are my biggest issue. At first this did not sink into them. However, after about 2-3 hours I did start noticing that it sunk in, so my pores were appearing larger. However, it wasn't really bad. Perhaps if I had brought some powder with me to work I could have touched it up.
After 5-6 hours, how did it look? Well, it did eat my blush unfortunately. That is one of the first things to go. Since my face can get oily, I made sure to spend time outside and get direct sunlight. This product held it's own. I did start to notice a tiny bit of oiliness, however it was totally manageable! Not nearly as bad as a lot of "dewy" and "luminous" foundations I've tried. If you have normal to dry skin I think this would work perfectly for you. As far as my pores, after the initial 2-3 hours, it didn't sink in any more. It wore really well. I did see it start to break down on my cheeks though (because of the oil from my face). I think so long as you have some powder for touch ups, this would work for pretty much any skin type. I was impressed.
This is a keeper for me. Although I didn't feel super "dewy", it was nice to have something that wasn't matte and didn't make my face look like an oily mess. I do prefer the Matte + Poreless because it made my face appear more airbrushed and it did hide my pores better. This is a close second.

I am like you- same concerns with my skin and freckles. I try to avoid foundation because of those issues. I might give this one a shot. Like you mentioned though, I know I need to set it basically with powder.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great product. I don't like it either when it sinks into my pores. I will definitely be trying Maybelline's Fit Me Matte & Poreless. Sounds perfect for my skin. Thanks, I didn't even know there was this on the market. Thanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's great that it lasted so long! That is my problem too, having make up come off too soon and I hate having to reapply!

I don't wear makeup. Makes my face break out and just doesn't work for me.
